Two US research vessels have been using Bermudian waters to test out a state-of-the-art remotely-operated sub.

The Scarlett Isabella and the Andrea A first arrived from Fairhaven, Massachusetts last Monday.

For the past ten days the three vessels have been carrying out sea trials in the deep waters around 30 miles off the island’s east coast.

The Scarlett Isabella and her crew of seven, along with the Andrea A’s crew of three, are expected to remain in Bermuda until next week.

The two vessels have been using Penno’s Wharf in St George’s as their base between ocean research missions.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the island, the tug and barge, Kirsten Grace and Gale Force, arrived in Dockyard on Saturday slightly behind schedule.

The shipping duo brought in construction material for the Victoria Place development as well as the Hamilton Princess marina project.

Friday, the car carrier Pearl Ace arrives in Hamilton to drop off 98 vehicles for the island’s car dealerships.

The ship originates in Santo Domingo and is heading for Nassau in the Bahamas next.

She will only be in port for a matter of hours before she heads to sea again. n
