A 23-year-old man was today jailed for two years after he admitted possession of more than $25,000 of drugs with intent to supply.
Maxwell Hayward of Pembroke also had $14,500 in cash in his possession when police arrested him.
In Magistrates Court Hayward pleaded guilty to possession of 15.55 grams of cannabis with intent to supply on January 9, 2013.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of 65.49 grams of cocaine with intent to supply on January 10. Both offences were in Pembroke.
The court heard police attended Hayward’s home and found the drugs along with $14,500 in cash. Both the drugs and the money were seized.
The amount of cannabis was in 35 twists worth $755. The cocaine was divided into 40 twists worth $20,500.
Sentencing Hayward, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said: “He alone is to blame for this offence. On the plus side, he has no previous convictions.
“The evidence is that some $14,500, a large amount of money, was found with the drugs.”
Mr Warner sentenced Hayward to 24 months in prison for the cocaine and six months for the cannabis to run concurrently.
The money was also ordered to be forfeited.
