Torrential rain lashed Bermuda yesterday bringing localized flooding and ferry cancellations.
Forecasters said that more than two inches of rain had fallen by 5pm.
And they expected a total of between three and four inches to have fallen by the time the storm had passed this morning.
The St George’s and Somerset Ferry services had to be cancelled as gusts reached 40 knots in the West End.
Record rainfall?
Meanwhile there were reports of localized flooding in Bakery Lane and other parts of Hamilton.
Bermuda Weather Service Director, Kimberley Zuill, told the Bermuda Sun that this month had the potential to be the wettest September on record.
She added: “We have had a very wet September.
“If we were to isolate the rainfall yesterday then it would not be that unusual as the daily record for the month stand at around 7 inches.
“But another intense low is expected to form on Sunday before the month is out and this has the potential to make this the highest rainfall in September since records began 50 years ago.” n
