Fugitive Ascento captured
He can run, but he can’t hide.
Fugitive Howard Ascento was captured this morning by a joint Bermuda Police Service and Department of Corrections team.
They found Ascento hiding at a Spring Hill, Warwick residence.
They captured him and brought him into custody and will make another court appearance shortly.
Ascento bolted through the doors of Magistrates Court on Friday, September 8 after being sentenced to 10 days in jail in traffic offences — a punishment he now would have served had he not spent 17 days on the run.
On Monday Police ad Corrections attempted to apprehend Ascento in the Upland Road area of Devonshire, but he was able to elude them at that time.
Police did arrest two people for harbouring him. A 28-year-old female and Ryan Spencer, 26. Mr Spencer was in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to harbouring Ascento on September 23.
Mr Spencer will stand trial on October 28 and was granted $5,000 bail.
