Bus driver’s act of kindness
A bus driver and passengers who leapt to the aide of a little girl has gone viral on the Internet and has seen by more than 13,000 people.
Shirlaé Taylor, 7 and her sister Freddraé Taylor, 9 had got on the Number 8 bus after attending summer camp in Somerset.
Soon little Shirlae became ill and vomited with bus driver Ms Tannock and a few of the passengers springing to her assistance.
She allowed the passengers to disembark, radioed for a new bus while she and a few passengers attended to the little girl.
Several passengers sprang into action and ran into the MarketPlace to buy water and paper towels as one eyewitness described “this very frightened little girl”.
The story was posted on the More Pink BDA Facebook page and has been seen by more than 13,000 people, had 100 shares and more than 370 likes since last Wednesday.
Shirl-Ann Taylor, the mother of the two girls, told the Bermuda Sun.
“Shirlae wasn’t feeling well and started bringing up on the bus. The bus driver gave me a call to let me know that my daughter was sick on the bus and they had tried to clean her up as much as they could. She also made sure they were okay on the Pond Hill bus.”
Ms Taylor said as a mother it was heart-warming to see others pitch in to take care of her child.
“It’s nice to know that people still look out after your kids like that and were willing to take care of them.
“They also got her a ginger ale and made sure she was comfortable coming into Hamilton.”
Ms Taylor said she has been on Ms Tannock’s bus since then.
“I thanked her for looking out for them and just being Bermudian.
“We don’t think that Bermudians have that in them any more and it’s nice to know that we still have that ability to look out for each other.”
