A Warwick man was today fined a $1,300 and ordered to pay reparations after he admitted threatening his ex-girlfriend and damaging her property.

Peter Nentwig, 30 pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court this morning damaging property at Tiffany Dawson’s house including a boom box, necklaces and a barbecue grill cover.

He also admitted uttering threatening words to Ms Dawson by saying: “If you call the police, I will come back in three months and make sure I burn your house down and make sure you and Bentley are in it”.

The offences happened in August 4. Nentwig denied assaulting Ms Dawson in the same day and those charges were dismissed.

Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess told the court Ms Dawson and Nentwig were in a relationship but had broken up.

At 3am on August 4, Nentwig showed up at Ms Dawson’s Warwick home and questioned her about where she had been that night.

Ms Dawson refused to answer him and tried to go inside her home but Nentwig became agitated.

Nentwig slammed the door shut and grabbed her necklaces from around her neck and pulled them off.

Ms Dawson then said: “Don’t f**king touch me. Go the f**k home”.

The complaint began to scream and said she would call the police. It was then that Nentwig threatened her.

At 1:15am on August 5, police arrested Nentwig at his Ord Road home.

In court today, his lawyer Saul Dismont said: “The circumstances of these offences are that it was a demise of the relationship.

“They were trying to patch things up and on that night, he heard that she had been seen out with another man.

“He went to her house to ask her what it was about. He had been drinking.

“He wanted to talk to her about the matter and she didn’t want to talk to him. He was very upset about it and he’s very apologetic about his behaviour. “

Mr Dismont asked for a conditional discharge for his client, but Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner didn’t think the offences warranted a discharge.

Mr Warner fined Nentwig $300 for damaging Ms Dawson’s property and ordered him to pay $700 in reparation.

He was also fined $1,000 for threatening Ms Dawson.
