She wowed the crowds at the Little Miss Paradise pageant and one day, Sedona-Sky Duffy hopes to wow them as a singer and actress.

As well as picking up the crowning title at the pageant, the 10-year-old from Southampton was also named Miss Congeniality and Little Miss Photogenic proving a hit with the judges. Perhaps her previous experience acting and singing on the Bermuda stage, and at a theatre school in London, helped her confidence to shine through.

She has sung, danced and modelled for various shows in Bermuda. You will be able to see her as one of the leading child roles — Ngana — in Gilbert and Sullivan’s upcoming production of South Pacific which opens at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall on October 10. She was also a model for the Evolution Fashion show and has acted in the pantomime.

Speaking of her experience taking part in the pageant Sedona-Sky told us: “It was really exciting. It taught me to have a lot more self-confident and that it wasn’t a beauty pageant but it was about making friends and having fun on the night. It wasn’t about winning but that you were yourself and you had fun.”

As part of the competition, Sedona-Sky had to make public appearances in Dockyard and Hamilton and, now she is Little Miss Paradise, will have lots more including the Bermuda Day Parade. Another role she has taken on is to support her charity of choice. “I chose the SPCA because I wanted to help them to raise awareness about animal cruelty and help them to stop it,” she said. “I have a rabbit at home called Misty and I got her from the SPCA.”

Sedona-Sky said she would love to enter future pageants including Miss Teen and, one day, Miss Bermuda. Asked what advice she would give to other little girls who want to enter the pageant in the future, she said: “I would tell them that they have to be willing to work a lot because we dance every day we don’t get a lot of breaks and be willing to have the time. There are lots of photo shoots, you get really hot and you get irritated, everybody does, even the teachers. By the end of the day you just want to go home and go to sleep but you have to learn all your questions so you have to be willing to put in the time for it.”
