The huge form of the Suez Neptune loomed onto the horizon in the East End at the weekend.
The massive tanker called in to Five Fathom Hole to pick up spare parts as well as a new crewmember.
The Norwegian technician, along with the new equipment, was run out to the ship by the Pilot Boat at around 10am on Sunday.
The Suez Neptune was on her way from Trinidad to Boston when she was forced to call in to Bermuda.
The Norwegian-flagged vessel only stopped off in Bermudian waters for a short time before continuing her journey up the east coast of the US.
Meanwhile this week is the Celebrity Summit’s last trip of the 2013 cruise season to Bermuda.
The liner, which hails from Cape Liberty in the US, has made 19 journeys to the island this year.
She arrived in Dockyard yesterday — a day earlier than her normal Wednesday morning arrival slot — and she will leave the island for the last time this year tomorrow.
The Norwegian Breakaway is back in the West End today for her 19th trip of the year.
While this weekend the Norwegian Dawn is the solitary arrival vessel in Dockyard making for a quiet Saturday in the West End.
Finally the Bermuda Islander is back in Hamilton again tomorrow and the Oleander is scheduled to arrive in the capital on Sunday afternoon. n
