Guarding businesses against data thieves
In a world with an ever-increasing need for security, companies seek storage and disposal solutions for all of their hard copy.
Enter Guardian Data Solutions.
The information management company, led by president Len Aitken, takes data destruction seriously.
Which is good news for anyone worried about their confidential information ever getting into the wrong hands. And if that type of information isn’t disposed of properly that’s exactly what can happen.
“We offer secure document destruction, record storage and secure office relocations using the Tyga Box moving system,” explains Mr Aitken.
“The concept all revolves around security and confidentiality of information and records. That is the primary reason for our existence.”
The Tyga Box moving system is a plastic crate and dolly system allowing for easier and secure office-to-office moving. The system provides boxes that secure contents for moving keeping them organized, as each box is equivalent to one standard file drawer.
The boxes are rented and are reusable, cutting down on the cost of purchasing cardboard boxes as well as being environmentally friendly.
Along with providing secure ways of destroying, securing and moving hard copy data, the company is also keen to provide more environmentally friendly solutions, and some of those have naturally evolved for the company.
“As part of the destruction process that we do, we are the only company on the island that recycles paper,” says Mr Aitken. “Last year we loaded 21 containers with 1,200lbs of paper. We loaded them onto containers and shipped them out to be recycled.
“We managed a recycle rate of about 92 per cent, which means that for every document, 92 per cent of the paper we receive is recycled. The other 8 per cent is coloured paper and that does go to Tynes Bay.”
The recycling company, which is located in the US, puts the recycled material to good use, making items such as toilet paper, tissue paper, napkins and paper towels.
Guardian works with both big and small companies to dispose of their most confidential information.
“The largest organisations use our services,” says Mr Aitken. “ The largest financial institutions to the small, little mom and pop shops.”
