After writing about Tai Home Spa’s MRSA outbreak last month, I was invited to visit the spa for a complimetary treatment.
When I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by the manager, Bhola who offered me a glass of water.
After filling out a consultation form, I was whisked to a spa room by my therapist, Wayan. Before she began the massage, Wayan asked if I had any pain anywhere. I told her my lower back had been bothering me and that I like a medium pressure during a massage.
After I changed and got settled, Wayan started the massage. It was very different for me because instead of applying oil right away, Wayan began to massage me with the blanket still on me.
She then got on the table and applied a good bit of pressure. It seemed more Thai massage style, something I had never had.
Wayan then pulled the blanket down and began a more traditional massage and gave me an incredible back massage. She even put a heating pillow on my lower back to help with the pain.
She then stretched my arms and legs. Because I’m not the most flexible person, I needed that extra push with the stretching. While I was nervous that she would push too much, the stretching definitely relaxed me.
Even though the massage was supposed to be 60 minutes, Wayan massaged me for 75 minutes. It was very relaxing.
After my massage, I got dressed and headed to the pedicure station. Wayan had a glass of ginger and lemongrass tea waiting for me.
The tea is made in house and the lemongrass grows on the property. That cup of tea made me feel like I was somewhere in Thailand instead of Bermuda.
A nice touch during the pedicure was the massaging chair. It felt like my massage had been extended a bit.
Wayan applied a gel colour to my toes and assured me the colour would last for three weeks. It is still shiny a week later.
I would encourage you to head to Tai Home Spa for a relaxing, wonderful spa experience. The spa is completely clean and MRSA free.
In addition, there are specials running every month and their massages and facials start at $89 for 60 minutes.
