Breast cancer survivor wins dream trip
A brave bride-to-be who battled breast cancer has been given a honeymoon trip to Bermuda thanks to The Reefs and a popular US television show.
Tracie Benjamin and her fiancé Ryan Conner broke down in tears as they were told the great news on the Rachael Ray Show this week.
The couple from Oregon featured on the hit daytime show on Monday after their story captured the hearts of its producers.
And the programme was aired to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Mr Conner had proposed to Ms Benjamin at a cancer fundraising event on live television during her ongoing fight with the disease and the footage became a huge hit on the Internet.
This prompted bosses from The Rachael Ray Show to contact the couple to see what they could do to help.
They arranged for Ms Benjamin to try on a range of bridal gowns and reached out to The Reefs to organize a six-night dream honeymoon trip for the couple.
Resort Manager David Dodwell Junior told the Bermuda Sun: “We all thought it was an amazing story.
“So we were more than happy to help out and provide the couple with a complimentary stay at The Reefs.
“We are very much looking forward to having them stay with us.”
The couple are expected to jet to Bermuda within the next year.
Ms Benjamin recently finished her final session of chemotherapy and her cancer is in remission.
They are now making plans for their big day.
Mandie De Camp, associate producer of the Rachael Ray Show added: “We are always on the look out for heart warming stories and when we came across Ryan’s proposal online we were all really taken by it.
“That’s when we started to arrange the bridal gown and team up with The Reefs in Bermuda to set up the honeymoon.
“Tracie had always said she wanted to get married on the beach, so we thought there was no better place than Bermuda and The Reefs to send them on their honeymoon.
“The Bermuda setting was ideal and The Reefs is just beautiful and right on the water.”
