Tributes have been paid for a British crime scene investigator who died in Bermuda this week.
John Hall was 55 when he passed away in hospital on Wednesday morning after contracting a sudden illness.
His wife was expected to arrive on the island last night having been informed of her husband’s death.
Mr Hall, an avid Manchester United fan, had come to Bermuda just over two years ago from his home in England.
Friends and colleagues in Bermuda described him as a kind and generous man, as well as a very capable CSI.
Chief inspector Nick Pedro told the Bermuda Sun: “John worked in Bermuda for just over two years and in that time he was involved in processing a number of crime scenes.
“His work was very important in several high profile trials.
“This news is very sad for all his colleagues in the police force.
“John was a thoroughly nice chap, he was very generous and always friendly.
“He was always accommodating and good at his work.”
Mr Hall, who lived in police accommodation in Paget, worked with the Forensic Support Unit based out of Southside Police Station.
He had just returned from a trip home to see his family in the UK when he was struck down by illness this month.
A statement released by the Bermuda Police Service yesterday stated: “It is with deep sadness that Commissioner of Police Mr Michael DeSilva reports the untimely death of our colleague and friend, 55-year-old John Hall.
“John joined us from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire in the UK as a crime scene investigator in October 2011.
“He passed away at the King Edward Memorial Hospital this morning.
“His family has been informed and it is expected that his wife will arrive on the island sometime today.
“Please keep John’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with their sad loss.
“Arrangements will be made to send our condolences and other announcements will be made later in the week.” n
