A 30-year-old woman who yelled obscenities at police while drunk was today fined $500.
Rebecca Lea Trott pleaded guilty to using offensive words in a public place on November 23.
The court heard at 1:24am that day, officers were on duty on Front Street outside Bermuda Bistro at the Beach when they saw two young women in a verbal altercation. One of them was Trott.
The officers saw the argument was very heated and approached both women, who were using offensive words. The women were told to walk in opposite directions.
The unknown female did and Trott began to follow her.
Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney said the officers grabbed hold of Trott and told her again to walk in the other direction. She began to get aggressive and started cursing at the officers.
Trott said: “F**k off. F**k you. You’re a foreigner. Go where you came from.”
The officers tried to escort her away from the scene, but then she shouted: “You p***y a**” and was arrested.
Addressing the court, Trott said; “I was drunk at the time and I don't even know what happened. I’m really sorry about it and I’ll never do it again.”
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner gave her a $500 fine.
