Two defendants appeared in court today charged with using stolen cheques to buy groceries.
Wendy Burrows, 49, pleaded not guilty to dishonestly receiving a stolen HSBC cheque belonging to Wesley Kennedy on an unknown date between September and October 25.
She also denied trying to cash the stolen cheque for $350 at Shopping Centre on October 25 and dishonestly obtaining $110 worth of groceries.
David Brookes, 57 pleaded not guilty to dishonestly receiving a different stolen HSBC cheque belonging to Wesley Kennedy on an unknown date between September and October 25.
He also denied trying to cash the stolen cheque for $350 at Shopping Centre on October 36 and dishonestly obtaining $182 worth of groceries.
Senior Magistrate Warner adjourned the matter for trial on February 11.
Both defendants were granted $2,000 bail.
