Lady Gaga’s album ARTPOP launched this week to disappointing numbers to say the least. And word on the street is her label, Interscope, shelled out $25 million on promoting the album and will likely take a massive hit.
The album is set to sell 250,000 copies in its first week, down 75 per cent from the first week sales of Born This Way, which was released just two years ago.
According to The Examiner, ARTPOP is being compared to Michael Jackson’s Invicible – the album had a $30 million promo budget and failed to launch one hit single.
A source told The Examiner: “She originally was going to have the album ready by last Christmas. They made her re-record it.
“When her tour wasn’t selling, they invented a hip injury and told Gaga to go away for months so the public could be interested in her ‘comeback.’
“After the lead single Applause didn’t get such a great reception, they made her re-record the album again. I hear that they allegedly paid radio stations in order to put the song at the top of their playlists.”
The problem with Gaga is she takes this stuff too seriously. When she first came out, she sang fun dance songs. Now, she’s trying to be an artist and taking herself far too seriously.
Apparently Gaga’s drug use has also gotten out of hand. Hopefully she sorts herself out soon — if not a breakdown is surely on the way.
The principal of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s now defunct school is doing interviews about how they are practicing Scientologists. According to Radar Online, Jacqueline Olivier was fired from The New Village Academy after she reportedly protested about the influence of Scientology in the school.
Olivier headed up the school for two years and is now writing a tell-all book about her experience. She claims the entire curriculum was based on Scientology teachings and that the staff worked to recruit parents into the cult.
She also spoke about Will and Jada’s involvement in Scientology, claiming that Jada is a full-fledged Scientologist while Will is just “dabbling”. Olivier also claims the teachers of the school had to take Scientology courses before interacting with the children.
This is fascinating to me because I have been a hardcore Will Smith fan since I was about 12. The fact that he is probably a Scientologist is completely turning me off from him. It’s weird because he’s always denied being a part of the cult but was willing to invest almost a million into a school teaching its principles.
