An 18-year-old man admitted receiving a stolen Playstation this morning in Magistrates’ Court.

Wakeem Philpott pleaded guilty to dishonestly receiving stolen goods, a Sony Playstation console and three games on September 20.

The court heard the complainant in the matter left for work that morning and left her father in the home.

At 10:20am, the father left his Pembroke home and secured all the doors and windows before he left. When he returned at 5pm, he saw a screen in one of the windows had been pushed up.

The screen was not pushed up before he left the house. When he got inside, he saw things were out of place on the first floor.

When he went up to the bedrooms, he saw they had been ransacked and a Sony Playstation and three games were missing.

He then called his daughter, who reported the matter to police.

Philpott was arrested on another matter on October 16 and his home was searched. During the search, officers found a Playstation and three games, which were seized.

The complainant came into the police station and identified the Playstation and the games.

Philpott was then arrested on the matter and claimed he had a receipt to prove that he had bought the Playstation.

The court heard he has previous convictions.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter to January 10 and ordered pre-sentencing reports. Philpott was remanded into custody.
