A 23-year-old man was today charged with infecting his girlfriend with HIV.
The Pembroke man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the 20-year-old woman knowing he had HIV and not informing her that he had the disease.
Crown Counsel Cindy Clarke told the court the defendant and the victim are still in a relationship. Both have tested positive for HIV.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter to November 25 for trial and remanded the defendant into custody.
