The Aussies bounced back from their surprise defeat to the US in the first round and ran in four superb tries to romp home to a 26-12 win.
Tempers often flared during this bruising encounter, and with the scores 12-5 at half time the result could have gone either way.
But second half tries by Sheehan and then the combative Kepu saw the Wallabies home in convincing style.
The Aussies now have a quick turn around and little to nurse their weary legs before they face they Canadians in the plate final this evening.
The North Americans squeezed passed a spirited Italian team to win their semi-final 19-14.
The first half saw five tries between the sides as both sets of players threw the ball around and attacked from deep.
But it was the Canadians who went into the break give points to the good.
And the score remained the same right up to the final whistle despite each side throwing everything at each other.
These may have been the Plate semi finals, but there was no shortage of commitment and energy.
And each team's desire to throw the ball around made these games a real spectacle for National Stadium crowd.
