The problem with junk e-mail is that every now and then, probably due to some cookie dropped on my hard drive by a website I visited, the unwanted spam actually contains a link to something which interests me.
This is how I ended up on filmstarjackets.com (and its myriad of cousins – boxofficeleather.com, moviestarjackets.com, superiorleathergarments.com... to name but a few).
Fancy Tom Cruise’s white biker jacket from Oblivion? This is the place… Brad Pitt’s red leather jacket from Fight Club? Buy it, just don’t talk about it… Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine jacket from X-Men? Claw one up here!
Even more thrilling – you can acquire a replica Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ jacket, or even Freddie Mercury’s bright yellow leather stage jacket.
Of course, unless we are performing in a Bermuda reenactment of an episode of The Big Bang Theory, none of us are going to wear any but the most subtle of these jackets in public.
Psychedelic suits
Continuing the theme of online fashion, I recently enjoyed a little window shopping on itailor.com.
The site offers tailored suits, tuxedos, shirts, blouses, and even shoes which can all be customised to your requirements.
Prices range from about $24.95 for shirts, $165 for suits, and $137 for shoes. However, it’s the sheer Ken & Barbie dress-up play value of the site’s 3D designer which attracted me!
I had fun just throwing lots of colours together, switching between collar styles, choosing cuffs… vents… pocket flaps… linings… epaulettes (I learnt a new word!).
To be honest, I think the psychedelic ocular assault I created may be illegal in some countries.
Go ahead. Pop on the site and see if you can compete with Armani!
