West Pembroke School Pride are the winners of this year’s Bermuda Youth Got Talent.
The all-girl cheerleading team of Keara Dill, Kelly Trott, Yara-Skye Bartley, Marley Todd, Mya Swan, Portia McGhie, Salae Moore, Tele Simons, Kiera Simons, Destani Warner, Zene Wade , Jalisa Caines, Katazha Whitfield has taken the grand prize of $5,000 and an iPad2.
The journey began in March at the BYGT auditions with 170 hopefuls. The top 23 were selected to perform at a round two set of auditions.
The final 20 contestants were announced during a live telethon last Monday and a selection of them marched in the Heritage Day Parade.
Kelly Hunt, director of BYGT and director of special projects at the Coalition for the Protection of Children, said: “Offering Bermuda’s young people a platform to showcase their talents has been a true pleasure and we have had a phenomenal response.
“The program has brought awareness to the Coalition for the important work they do, given our young people access to an international stage and uplifted the community.”
A total of 2,302 votes were casts by the public and here are the full results:
Judge’s Choice –Angelis Hunt , three hours of studio time at Just Platinum, $100 Brown & Co and four complimentary tickets to the movies at Speciality Cinema
1st Runner up (people’s choice)- Quinn Outerbridge, $150 gift certificate from A.S Cooper and two complimentary tickets to the movies at Speciality Cinema
Favourite single act over 13 - Cameron Moulder, $100 gift certificate from Music Box
Favourite single act under 13 - Shori Lindsay-Trott , $100 gift certificate from Daisy & Mac
Favourite group under 13 –The Simons Brothers , $100 Brown & Co and four complimentary tickets to themovies at Speciality Cinema
Favourite dancer over 13 –Precious Cooper , $100 Electronic City
Favourite dancer under 13 - Micah Corea, $100 Sports R Us
Best performance with an instrument – Connie Campbell, $100 gift certificate from Music Box
*Highly commended (under 13) – Ameina Lewis, $100 gift certificate from Daisy & Mac
*Highly commended (over 13) – Francesca Dill, Julia Frith, $100 each from M&M
