A Warwick woman appeared in court today accused of poisoning chickens.

Juhala Lambert, 60, pleaded not guilty to willfully administering to chickens a poisonous drug or substance, namely Ethylene Glycol.

Ms Lambert also denied unlawfully assaulting Leyoni Junos in Warwick.

The offences allegedly happened on January 16.

Addressing the court, Ms Lambert said: “They belong to Leyoni Junos. She has about 300 chickens on the property.

“She’s allowing them to breed. The neighbours have called the SPCA and nothing can be done.”

Mr Warner then asked: “So you poisoned them?”

Ms Lambert said: “No, I told her I would like to.”

The matter was adjourned for trial on July 19 and Ms Lambert was released on $1,000 bail.
