Lions in trouble
The Trinity Sound Lions’ season continued to go from bad to worse in basketball’s CellOne Elite City League at Somersfield Academy.
The Lions were beaten 47-34 by the Fort Knox Panthers to cap off a week that also saw their coach relieved of his duties.
They did at least, display a new level of pride and perseverance despite going well behind early on.
The Panthers were led in scoring by Ronnie Bushner with 15 points, while the Lions leading scorer was Reggie Tolosa with 16 points.
Meanwhile, the Outback Outlaws defeated the Bluebirds 45-38.
It was a notably scalp for the Outlaws, who were looking to exact revenge on the defending champions as well as stake an early claim of being the team to beat this year.
The Outlaws remain undefeated but for the Bluebirds, it was their first loss of the campaign.
Leading the scoring for the Outlaws was Gikai Clarke (15), while Dion Easton scored 14 for the Bluebirds.
For the second game in a row, the Outlaws were tied with their opponent at the half and in the second were able to make the correct adjustments defensively to shut down their opponent.
