Registration is open for the Tokio Millennium Re Sprint Triathlon which will be held on Sunday, June 9 at Albuoy’s Point, Hamilton.

This is the third year the event will be held in scenic Hamilton, with the swim taking place in the cool waters of the harbour followed by a bike and run along Front Street. It is the only triathlon that takes place in the city and attracts a great crowd of spectators and fans to cheer on their family and friends.

The triathlon is open to all ability levels and there is a duathlon for the juniors.

Those who are new to the sport of triathlon are encouraged to participate in the Try-a-Tri. This event features a 200m swim, an 8km bike and a 2km run.

For a longer distance, individuals and teams can take part in the sprint distance race consisting of a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

Companies with an array of athletic talent, can also enter teams for either the Corporate Division or the (Re)Insurance Division, which compete over the same distance as the senior athletes. Past winners include Butterfield & Vallis and Tokio Millennium Re.

Seven to 10-years-old may compete in a duathlon comprised of a 1km run, a 4km bike and another 1km run.  Juniors 11 to 14-years-old will compete over a longer distance — 2km run, 8km bike and 2km run.
