Nahki Wells has admitted he will leave Bradford City this summer if he is offered the right opportunity.

The Bermudian striker expressed genuine gratitude to the Bantams after his man-of-the-match display in the 3-0 League Two play-off final against Northampton at Wembley on Saturday.

The bond Wells, 22, shares with the fans and manager is not in question but the former Dandy Town man has never hidden his ambition, telling the Bermuda Sun before the final: "If my best helps me progress then so be it but the worse case scenario is we'll be playing League One football."

After 26 goals this season, including one at Wembley, and reported interest from the likes of Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Burnley, questions inevitably focused on his future.

"I signed a deal in September and have still got another two years at Bradford," Wells told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus.

"I am just thankful to have had the chance to do what I have done so far in my career here.

"We just have to take it as it comes. We all have the desire to play at the highest possible level and if the opportunity comes, I will have to take it.

"I have done what I had to do this season as have the players and the manager and we are all looking forward to what comes next."
