Bermuda Institute celebrates 70th
Bermuda Institute is busy celebrating its 70th anniversary this weekend.
The theme is “Honouring the Past, Soaring Towards the Future”.
Celebrations began on Thursday with a special Alumni Chapel service, parade and football game fundraiser.
The school hopes to raise $70,000 with the various events over the weekend.
On Friday night, the school held a special worship service, remembering events of the past.
Today, an alumni church service will be held in the school’s auditorium featuring gust speaker Pastor David Steede, an alumnus at 11am.
In addition, the Alumni Mass Choir will perform.
Guest vocalists Amber Bullock, winner of BET’s Sunday Best and Committer, winner of NBC’s Sing Off will also perform.
A special alumni concert will be held at 7pm this evening featuring local artists Antonia Simons and Lloyd Holder along with Committed and Ms Bullock.
Tickets are $30 for general admission, $50 for patrons and $100 for sponsors.
The grand finale of the weekend is the black tie Awards Banquet, which will be held on Sunday at the Fairmont Southampton at 7pm.
Former classes are encouraged to come together for an evening of awards, reflections and fellowship.
Tickets are $100 and musical guests include Committed and Ms Bullock.
