A teenager appeared in court today charged with passing fake money.

Shannon Ingram, 18, denied passing or tendering a counterfeit US $50 note at Belvin’s Variety on April 3 in Pembroke, knowing or believing it to be stolen.

She also denied having custody or control of $950 of counterfeit US currency on April 3 in St George’s.

The court heard Ms Ingram is a student at the Bermuda College and lives in St George’s with her mother.

The matter was adjourned for trial on July 26.

The defendant, a former Miss Bermuda contestant, was granted $2,000 bail with one surety.
