A 22-year-old man today denied assaulting a woman and intruding on her privacy.

Marcus Usher pleaded not guilty to unlawfully destroying a BlackBerry Bold cell phone belonging to Renika Anderson between August 1 and August 31.

He also denied intruding on her privacy on February 26.

Finally, Mr Usher pleaded not guilty to unlawfully assaulting Ms Anderson on March 8 in Pembroke.

Mr Usher’s lawyer, Rick Woolridge told the court he was instructed Ms Anderson had withdrawn her complaint, but crown counsel Maria Sofianos said she had no information to support that claim.

Mr Woolridge said the pair had been in a “tumultuous relationship” for a year and his client promised to stay away from the victim.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter to May 21 and gave Mr Usher $2,000 bail with one surety.

He must stay away from Ms Anderson and must not interfere with the investigation.
