A 19-year-old man who swore at police was today fined $1,000.

Micah Clamens was on Front Street at 3:10am on May 4 when officers saw him drinking what appeared to be alcohol.

He was warned about drinking on the street and said: “You cops are a bunch of f***ing p*****s”.

The court heard the officer felt “demeaned” by the statement as people in the vicinity began to laugh.

He was warned about cursing at police and said: “Did you hear what I said? You are all p*****s. You guys are a bunch of c***s”.

Clamens was arrested and charged with using offensive words towards in a police officer in a public place.

In court today, he admitted the charge but claimed he was drinking water.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner gave him a $1,000 fine.
