A pumped up CedarBridge scored on the opening play of the first half to give them the early advantage. Both teams battled back and forth with no score until the last play of the first half when Berkeley evened it up.
Both sides played great defence so neither squad could score a try in the second half.
Berkeley scored first in the overtime period, putting CedarBridge on its heels. But the sleeping giant awoke to score twice to take the title.
John Layfield, an organizer of the Beyond Rugby programme, told the Bermuda Sun: "This game was phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal. I wish people in rugby around the world could have seen that game. I am so proud of two public schools that didn't even have rugby programmes two years ago. The athleticism of the players from both teams was so incredible."
Ndavyah Williams, captain of CedarBridge, said: "Last year Berkeley beat us. But we came back this season strong. We worked hard with all these new guys. Today it became tense a bit because we went down in overtime and we just gathered our composure and brought the victory to CedarBridge, the number one school in the island."
Williams said his team only slightly got down after Berkeley scored, "but as we started to play, we picked our heads up and that's what won us the game. We picked our heads up and scored. We ran and ran and put pressure on them."
Prior to the high school contest, TN Tatem won the Middle School title 7 to 6.
