It’s a rare treat for motor sports fans.

Both the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club and Bermuda Karting Club will be hosting a joint event this Sunday at the Bermuda Motor Sports Park in Southside, St. David’s.

Jason ‘Skuzzie’ North, NKC president, told the Bermuda Sun the penultimate race of the season is a trophy day.

“It’s good that the clubs work together. We agreed to do our last two race days with them.

“There is some crossover between motorsports so it’s a good thing for both clubs.”

The Cabral’s General Contracting Trophy Day will give those drivers who are not up for a top three finish something to race for.

North said it makes a huge difference for the junior riders in knowing regardless of how they finish, they will still come away with a trophy.

He said while most of the first place positions are pretty close to being wrapped up, “second and third are where the real battles are. It should make it good for the end of the season”.

Cyril Whitter Jr, BMRC president, said: “This Sunday will be the commencement of the 2013 Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club’s National Championship Series.

Success

“The pre-season Endurance Racing series was a success with several motorcycle riders taking part in the three-part series.  Now that the time of tasting their endurance and stamina is over the riders of the BMRC will be switching gears to see who is the fastest on track.”

Whitter added: “Spectators, friends and family will be provided with entertainment across a variety of race classes in the two disciplines of motor sports.

“The overlap of season opener and closure will see intense racing actions as both riders and drivers alike will be looking to stake their claims in their respective championship crowns.”
