The British training and support ship SD Victoria will arrive in Hamilton today to pick up fresh crew.
The vessel is used for worldwide training operations for military personnel including Special Forces.
She is also designed to transport personnel and military equipment as well as supporting dive operations.
Victoria cruises at a maximum speed of just over 15 knots and has space for 88 crew members.
Sailors
She is scheduled to arrive in Hamilton at 7am this morning so that more than a dozen crew can be replaced with new sailors.
The ship will remain in Hamilton until Friday when she is due to leave at around 4pm.
Meanwhile, at the West End of the island, there’s plenty of cruise action as the season picks up steam.
Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas arrived on Monday for a one-night stop and will return to King’s Wharf again on Saturday.
Celebrity’s Summit gets into Dockyard tomorrow at 11am for her first one-night stay of the season.
King’s Wharf
And then this weekend a further two liners will descend on the West End.
The Norwegian Dawn will arrive at around 11am on Sunday at King’s Wharf so her passengers can disembark. But then she will head out to Grassy Bay, off Dockyard, to drop anchor to make way for Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas that arrives at 3pm later the same day.
Passengers from the Norwegian Dawn will then be tendered to and from the ship for the rest of her stay due to ongoing repair work at Heritage Wharf.
