Monthly arraignments: Men deny murder
Two men appeared in court this morning and denied a two-year-old murder.
At the monthly arraignment session, Darrion Simons, 20 and Jahkeo LeShore, 31, pleaded not guilty to the premeditated murder of David Clarke on April 17, 2011.
The pair also denied using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, namely premeditated murder.
Mr Clarke, 26, was gunned down yards away from his front door at 10:30pm that night.
Both men were remanded into custody and the matter was adjourned to the next arraignment session.
Attempted murder
In another case, Alan Robinson, 54, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Vernica Tucker on December 11 in Hamilton Parish.
He also denied having a bladed article in a public place, namely Rocky Lane, Hamilton Parish on the same day.
Mr Robinson pleaded guilty to unlawfully assaulting Kevin Arorash on the same date in Hamilton Parish.
His lawyer Oonagh Vaucrosson requested psychiatric reports be conducted before her client goes to trial.
Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves ordered two reports and adjourned the matter for trial in June.
Mr Robinson was remanded into custody.
Grievous Bodily Harm
Also today, Damir Phillips, 25 and Malachi Darrell, 20, pleaded not guilty to wounding Joshua Crockwell with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Mr Darrell denied wounding Rayki Emery with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The offences allegedly happened on July 9 in Warwick.
Both men had their bail extended and will face trial on June 4.
