The story of Jesus’ crucifixion came to life in the St George’s today.

The Ebenezer Methodist Church held it’s annual Good Friday Passion Walk at 10:45 this morning.

Hundreds of spectators turned out to watch the passion of Jesus Christ and his suffering on the cross.

The reenactment started at Ebenezer Methodist Church and stopped at various churches along the route.

The scenes include the last supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus’s betrayal and arrest, standing trial before Pilate, being led to Calvary and finally, the crucifixion.

Jesus was ordered to be crucified at the scene at St Peter’s Church.

He dragged a cross through the streets and often fell, while the crowd hurled insults at him.

A man called Simon was forced to carry the cross for Jesus by the Roman soldiers.

A bloody and battered Jesus eventually got to Calvary where two robbers were already on their crosses.

He was put in the middle and taunted by the guards and the crowd.

Eventually, Jesus dies but before his death, he says: “Father forgive them, for they not what they do”.

He then says: “It is finished” and dies.

The soldiers took his body off the cross and a man named Joseph prepared it for burial.

Roman soldiers are seen guarding the tomb.

Calvin Hodsoll enjoyed the play and said: “It’s beautiful. I was in it for four years.

“I let the young ones take over. I played a follower.

“It’s still gorgeous. It’s still beautiful.

“The turnout was great and the weather changed for us.”

Gladys Lindo also enjoyed herself.

“It's really meaningful. It brought tears to me eyes to remember how much the Lord has done for us.

“The play is getting and better each year. I’m impressed.”
