Cedarbridge Academy students held a thank you breakfast for sponsors who sent them on a European tour last month.
The students who visited Paris and Barcelona held the breakfast yesterday.
Senior Language teacher Catalina Gambra-Sposato organized the trip, which was designed to immerse the students in the language and the culture of France and Spain.
These students benefited from “hands-on” experience with the language and culture.
Mrs Gambra-Sposato said the objectives of the trip were for the students to gain valuable life skills through independent exploration, develop heightened interest in learning a foreign language, open acceptance to other cultures and ways of life, reinforce curriculum taught at the school with an aim to improve their GCSE results and enhancement of college applications and resumes.
While in Paris, the students visited the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and Sacre-Coeur Basilica.
After a couple of days in Paris, the group travelled to Barcelona via the overnight train.
In Barcelona, the students attended a high school, Colegio La Sargrada Familia and stayed at the homes of students from that school.
The students also participated in Flamenco and art classes and visited many of the world famous sites in Barcelona, such as, the Dali Museum, Parque Guell, La Familia Sagrada Basilica, and La Rambla.
Thanks to the generous donations, the students were also able to attend a football game to watch their team Barcelona, whom many of the students support.
Donors included Nicholas P. Warren, Jack Gressier, Chris Caponigro, Mr and Mrs Michael Fisher, Christopher D. Sposato, Mr and Mrs Morfitt, and Mr and Mrs Ribaroff.
Corporate donors included Torus Re, The Ace Foundation, The XL Foundation, Arch Reinsurance Ltd., Lindo’s Market Devonshire, and Integrity Resources.
