Inspiring moments / Sorrow Turned Into Joy
Meditation
John 16:20: “You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.”
There are many living from day to day in deep heartache.
The inner pain they feel, words can’t describe. The sadness and distress is clouding their vision.
There is hopelessness and despair filling their minds. The joy they long for seems like a fairytale in their view.
We all have sorrows. Everyone feels pain at one point or another. There’s a sorrow of loss, disappointment, affliction and more.
Sometimes it may feel like a dark stormy cloud hanging over you. It may be like crashing waves hitting you every time you try to stand.
I’ve had my share of sorrows. I can relate with constantly feeling depressed and feeling like a heavy weight is on you.
It’s like being in a dark and deep pit and experiencing a never-ending cycle of pain. I thank God for lifting me out of it all.
I’m not the one to pretend that all my days were and are sunny. I’ve also experienced God’s comfort and joy through difficult circumstances.
It’s a wonderful existence to have my heavenly Father hold me through the stormy days and sleepless nights, showing that He cares in the simplest ways.
I know that what God did for me, He can and will do it for you. He won’t force it on you, but He is willing.
Joy is not the absence of problems and challenges. It’s an inner experience that keeps us through the problems and challenges we face.
The Bible tells us that the joy that is of the Lord is our strength. When we lose our joy we lose our strength.
The good news is that we as believers have an assurance that our sorrows will be turned into joy. Real joy can only come from God!
How can we experience this joy? The joy we long to experience can only be found in the presence of the Lord.
Psalm 16: 11 says: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Are you longing for joy? When we get in the presence of the Lord it will give us the joy that we need to keep us through anything.
Praise
We can experience God’s presence through praise. Praise is our weapon against Satan.
The heaviest burden can be lifted when we praise.
Isaiah 61:3 lets us know that we should put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
Singing songs and using our voices with words of praise from our heart can bring joy even in the midst of sorrow. Are you putting on the garment of praise?
We can praise God because we know that all the sorrows and pain we face on this earth is temporal and that His everlasting joy is available for us to have.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you that in your presence there is fullness of joy.
I want to experience the fullness that only you can give. When I’m feeling down help me to put on the garment of praise. In Jesus’ Name, Amen! n
