Meditation
James 4: 7: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
It all starts in the mind. It starts as a thought. The thought that constantly tells us a lie.
Sometimes without realizing we may take action on that lie that started out as a thought.
Have you ever felt like life was a tug-of-war? Sometimes it seems like one thing is pulling you one way and your desire is trying to pull you another way.
The temptation is all around you. It seems like a never ending battle of Lies vs. Truth.
Satan uses the lies that God is not enough and that we don’t have everything we need.
Once we believe those lies we fall into the trap that he has set before us.
Truth always brings freedom when one embraces it.
Often times our actions and responses stem from what we believe.
What do we believe? What is truth?
John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Submit
In order for us to resist the Devil we must submit to God.
Following His lead will guide us on the right path.
When we try to be in control we often mess things up, but when we submit to God we can walk in true freedom.
Romans 13: 1, 2 tells us: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
Resisting the Devil
We have tools that we can use against the lies of the Devil.
Satan is the father of lies and uses just that to deceive us.
The Word of God and prayer are the tools we must put into action daily.
We must always be on guard. The moment we get off guard is the moment we leave the door open for Satan to enter in.
In order to know the truth we must read and study the Word of God. Then we can begin to speak the truth and meditate on the truth and the the devil will have no other choice, but to flee.
We all face temptation. Satan throws lies at all of us, no one is exempt. He often uses our insecurities.
Know that in Christ we have everything that we need and that there is nothing outside of Him that can keep us down if we put our trust in Him.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you that you are the truth of everything I need.
Help me to submit to your will and way and to resist the Devil by studying, speaking and meditating on your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
