Men fined for using false names
Eston Rawlins
A 22-year-old Southampton man today admitted giving police two false names.
Eston Rawlins was seen talking on using his phone while riding along St John’s Road yesterday.
Police followed him until he stopped in Gorham’s parking lot.
When they approached Rawlins, he gave them a false name and a date of birth.
When the officers checked the name, the date of the birth didn’t match the name.
Rawlins then said he had given them a false name and told them a different name.
When the officers checked that name, they found warrants and took him to the Hamilton Police Station.
When police looked into the second name, they realised Rawlins had given them a false name again.
In court today, Rawlins pleaded guilty to giving a false name and using a handheld device while driving.
He was fined $300 for each offence.
Larry Ebbin
A 55-year-old man today admitted using a wrong name and was fined $300.
Larry Ebbin was stopped on Kindley Field Road on March 13.
When officers asked him his name, he gave them a false name.
The officer asked him to produce his driver’s license but Ebbin said he didn’t have it on him.
The court heard the officer became suspicious because he had stopped the man several times last year and he always gave the false name but never had identification.
The officers told Ebbin they believed he was using a false name.
He was arrested and taken to the Southside Police Station where he gave his correct name.
Ebbin apologised to the court and was fined $300.
