David Bascome: Blast going for title #7
The game will be live on www.mislnation.com. The players have been tremendous all season and were able to be consistent enough to come away with the league title and make it to the MISL championship game.
This is my 22nd year involved with the professional indoor soccer game, with 18 of those as a player, two as player-assistant coach and four as an assistant coach.
This journey has been great for me personally, it has allowed me to open the doors for many young players and given me a life traveling through the USA.
Trying to win a championship as a coach is totally different than winning one as a player. As a player you have full control of the outcome. When you are playing you are part of the emotion on the field and have direct impact of the game. As a coach you only have control of the information you give them, hoping the players retain that information long enough to create success.
We can not jump on the field and make things happen. And as much as we stand on the side yelling and getting emotional, we have no control over what happens directly on the pitch, especially if you’re a coach that has played the game for a while.
Your expectations become greater for your players on the field and complacency as a coach is unacceptable.
Winning is still the greatest feeling in the world, it is a great moment see when all the hard work coming together with the players and team.
This championship game will be a battle, the team that wins will be the team that makes the least mistakes, the team that controls their emotions and finishes their chances.
If we put in the work, battle and stay focused on our game plan, we will give ourselves a good chance to win our seventh title.
Until next time!
