A 44-year-old man was today remanded in custody after he admitted receiving a stolen watch.
Kimlo Webb was found in possession of a $150 Citizen watch that was stolen from a Pembroke home on February 20.
He has a slew of previous similar previous convictions and was released from prison last year.
The court heard at 11am on February 20, the complainant was in her yard at her Woodburn Crescent home, when she saw a man come around the corner, talking on a cell phone.
He got off the phone and told her he was cutting through the property to the premises behind.
The man continued to walk and looked back at the complainant several times.
Crown counsel Larissa Burgess said at 12 noon, the complainant locked her home and left.
When she returned an hour later, the screen door was partially opened and items in the bathroom window sill were on the floor.
The complainant went to check her bedroom and a variety of items were missing including an iPad, a MacBook, a knapsack, the watch and a pendant.
The matter was reported to police.
On March 1, Webb was arrested on another matter and as a result, police searched his home.
During the search, officers seized a watch and a ring.
On March 2, the complaint attended the Hamilton Police Station and identified the watch as one of the items stolen from her home.
In court today, Webb said: “As you can see, I do have some antecedents. I did receive some items that the police had recovered.
“I would like to get some probation. I haven’t had probation ever.”
But Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said: “You’ve got an extensive history of breaking and entering, entering as a trespasser, including convictions for drug offences.
“You have received all kinds of sentences including imprisonment, suspended sentences, probation, community service.”
Mr Warner ordered pre-sentencing reports and remanded Webb into custody until April 17.
Webb denied entering the home on Woodburn Crescent as a trespasser and stealing an iPad, a MacBook, a knapsack, the watch and a pendant.
However, he admitted dishonestly receiving the watch.
