The Digicel Premier Division took a significant twist at the weekend after North Village’s fine win at Dandy Town.
Keishen Bean’s goal 13 minutes from time defeated the Hornets, who went down to 10 men midway through the second half when Saki Tuzo was sent off.
The result means the Rams now stand alone in second ahead of reigning champions Dandy Town but still six points behind leaders Devonshire Cougars, who now have one hand on the trophy after a 4-0 win at home to Flanagan’s Onions on Friday night.
Cougars had goals from Darius Cox, Dimitri Daniels, Che Brangman and Kenny DeSilva to thank for a dominant display that strengthened their position at the top with just three league games remaining.
In the weekend’s other matches, Wolves secured their survival with a 3-1 win at Southampton Rangers, while Somerset Trojans drew 2-2 with PHC.
Robin Hood’s game against St George’s Colts was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at BAA field.
