Seven women will vie for the title of Miss Bermuda this weekend in the annual Miss Bermuda Pageant.

The pageant will be held at the Fairmont Southampton at 8pm where reigning Miss Bermuda Rochelle Minors will hand over her crown.

The contestants are Miss Sandys —Jahshuntae Darrell; Miss Southampton —Denae Simmons; Miss Warwick — Alexandra McMartin; Miss Devonshire —Mikeisha Butterfield; Miss Pembroke — Chelzea Somner; Miss Smith’s — Katherine Arnfield; and Miss Hamilton Parish —Echaunti Swan.

Milika Seymour, organizer for the Pageant, said: “It’s a pleasure to run the Miss Bermuda Pageant for a third year.

“It truly is a wonderful experience to see the ladies grow throughout the pageant process.

Opportunity

“My only hope is more young ladies will look at this experience and recognize what a great opportunity it is and decide to take part.”

She continued: “It takes a lot of effort from the production team, the contestants and the sponsors to put on a production of this caliber therefore, I encourage everyone to come out and support this event and the ladies.

“Not only will there be fierce competition on June 23, there will be top notch local entertainment from ‘Dem Biez’, Cindy Smith, Sia Spence, Jonae Smith and Kion Simmons.”

Ms Seymour explained some of the new components to the pageant this year.

“In addition to the Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality awards, we are awarding a People’s Choice award and a Miss Hospitality award.

“There is also an opportunity for a local designer to have their creation worn by the New Miss Bermuda at the Miss World Designers Showcase which will also be awarded the night of the pageant.

“The winner of the Miss Bermuda Pageant will go on to represent our island in Indonesia at the
MissWorld contest in front of a viewing audience of over a billion people
worldwide.”
