Robin Hood Warriors defeated the Fort Knox Panthers 61-59 in basketball’s Cellone Elite City League.
It was a game in which the Panthers wished Sharpshooter Sean Hutchingson farewell as he leaves the country.
But Kevin Stephens’ game high 22 points were not enough to give him a parting gift as the Panthers, who only had five players, clung to a lead for the entire game only to be heartbroken by former Panther Nate Holland’s last-second three-pointer.
The Panthers became really shorthanded in the second half when starting centre Jonathan Lowe fouled out with about 10 minutes to go.
And in spite of playing with only four they held the lead until the final few seconds when junior Warner fouled out for the Warriors and a hungry Holland entered the game ready to save the day.
Jason Lowe scored 15 points but Holland’s late three points were definitely the most crucial on a night where the fans saw Goliath get the edge over David.
