Many Bermudians remember the days of Hawkins Island - limbo dancers, open buffet, free drinks and more importantly, tons of fun.

Well that memory can become your reality this weekend at Fort Night Fever.

The City of Hamilton is presenting the event on Friday evening from 7pm to 11pm at Fort Hamilton.

Fort Night Fever is $75 per person with free Swizzle, an open buffet, live band, fort tours, limbo dancing and more.

Kevin Smith and Danilee Trott are organizing the event and explained what attendees can expect.

Mr Smith said: “When people arrive, there will be fort tours that they can take.

“The event will be hosted by C Dog Ed, Ed Christopher. That’s what he was called at Hawkins Island.”

Ms Trott added: “I think the most memorable thing about Hawkins Island was that it was a high energy feel and it was all inclusive, which was nice.

“Friday’s event will be an open buffet which is a Bermuda-style barbecue.

‘There’s free rum swizzle flowing all night. The entertainment continues from the time you walk in until you leave.

“It’s non stop entertainment.”

Ms Trott said the crowd should expect to get involved by dancing and having a good time.

Another fun component will be the fort tours, which start at 6:30pm.

Mr Smith said it will give guests a chance to see the fort in a new light, in the evening, as it closes at sunset daily.

Asked who the event is aimed at, Ms Trott said: “It’s for the young at heart and the young people.

“It’s good for all ages. I think those who did go to Hawkins Island and appreciated it will appreciate this event more.

“It’s been so long since we had it.”

Mr Smith added: “It will be exciting for people around my age (early twenties) to go.

“I’m really excited to see what it is all about.”

Ms Trott said Gosling’s will be on hand to make sure the rum swizzle is flowing all night.

The buffet will include ribs, chicken, fish, mac and cheese, peas and rice, a dessert table and more.

There will be a grill on site.

As far as the entertainment goes, there will be a king and queen of limbo at the end of the night.

Music will be performed by Working Title, who play a variety of music.

Tickets are available online at www.bdatix.bm and there will be limited tickets at the door.

Trott said: “It’s a great start to the Friday night. It's happy hour, a show and dinner all in one.”
