Thief caught red-handed on CCTV

A 23-year-old man admitted stealing a bottle of wine after he asked the storeowner for a free beer.

Lo’Nicko Durrant pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court this morning to stealing a $13 bottle of Lindeman Bin 65 wine, property of Bermuda Wine and Spirits.

The court heard on March 15, Durrant entered the store and walked around.

He then came to the front where the manager was and asked him if he could have a free beer.

The manager said no and Durrant left the store.

After he left, the manager viewed the CCTV footage where he saw Durrant taking the bottle of wine and putting it in his jacket.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered pre-sentencing reports and adjourned the matter to July 29.

Durrant was given $1,000 bail.
