Onion Day recipes will culminate in cookbook
Dozens descended on Carter House at the weekend to enjoy a traditional Bermudian Onion Day.
They sampled onion soup cooked over a wood fire cauldron as well as onion tarts at the event on Saturday.
The guests compared onion recipes and learned about the importance of the vegetable to the early settlers.
The event also allowed islanders to explore the Settler’s Cottage that neighbours Carter House, which is now nearing completion.
The Onion Day was organized by the St David’s Island Historical Society and the numerous onion recipes that were on show are set to form the basis of a special cooking book.
