Peter Miller’s Contest III experienced the highs and lows during the second race day of the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy season at Granaway Deep.
The crew won the first race — the B.A.A. Cup — ahead of Mark Soares’ Victory IV and Jon Nicholls’ Elizabeth II. Owen Siese’s Challenger II did not start but did contest the next two races.
Contest III also took the W.H Bennett Memorial Trophy ahead of Victory IV before disaster struck in the final race — the Spithead Trophy — and the boat sunk.
Despite that mishap, Contest III are top of the overall standings with 20 1/4 points, with Victory IV their nearest challengers on 13. The next race day is on June 16 at Mangrove Bay.
