Two arrested after handbag snatch

Around 5:15am Tuesday, June 4th police on mobile patrol along Montpelier Road in Devonshire encountered two men running through the area that disappeared into the Arboretum.

It was then ascertained that a robbery had taken place nearby where two males took a handbag from a woman and made good their escape on foot. The female victim was not injured.

The Arboretum was immediately surrounded and a search for the suspects commenced. A 31 year old Pembroke man was initially arrested in the surrounding area and a 16 year old Pembroke male was subsequently arrested at the Arboretum.

Both suspects were arrested in connection with the reported robbery and remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
