The music of a man murdered in a gun attack is to be featured in a new CrimeStoppers campaign.
The song by Haile “Starchild” Outerbridge will be used as part of the “If you know something…say something” campaign, designed to get guns off the streets.
Mr Outerbridge was one of two victims in a gun killing at Belvin's Variety store in Pembroke in January.
His mother, Marilyn Outerbridge, felt so strongly about the message of the campaign that she agreed to allow one of her musician son’s songs to be used as a soundtrack to the advert, which will air this week.
Supportive
Minister for Public Safety Michael Dunkley said: “Mrs Outerbridge has a personal stake in the campaign as she is one of several mothers in our community who have been affected by gun violence.
“She has been very supportive of our efforts and we couldn’t be more grateful to her for her endorsement of the campaign’s powerful message.
“We have received encouraging feedback regarding the campaign and I want to once again urge anyone who may either know someone who has a gun or where a firearm is to please make the call to CrimeStoppers.
“All calls are secure and anonymous and if a gun is recovered they will receive a substantial financial reward.”
CrimeStoppers can be contacted on 800 8477.
The ad campaign is part of the gun bounty programme being run jointly by CrimeStoppers and the Ministry of National Security.
