There were representatives from tournament organizers Groundswell as well as research group and conservation charity the Ocean Support Foundation.
The tournament, now in its third year, aims to raise awareness of the problem of invasive lionfish in Bermuda’s waters and the threat they pose to our native and endemic fish populations.
Teams of “lionfish slayers” will take to the waters from sunrise to catch as many if the fish as possible and take their catch to the dock at Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences for the 3pm weigh-in.
The public is invited to join in the after party at the dock from 3pm.
