Fresh off the City Fashion Festival, Christopher Vee is a professionally trained makeup artist with 16 years of experience behind him. He is proud of his recent contribution to The City Fashion Festival’s Hair and Beauty Showcase — showcasing makeup trends from the 1920s right up to the 1980s. As a beauty expert, he is passionate about his field of expertise. He was assigned as the key makeup artist for the revamping of the Bermuda Tourism campaign last summer with print and commercial work currently being seen in the US and the UK. He arrived in Bermuda in spring of 2006 and came here in order to truly be considered an international makeup artist.

What is your most frivolous vice?
I must admit that shoe shopping ranks high on that list.
What makes you the proudest?
I am proudest when I get wonderful feedback from my clients on how much they love my makeup skills and how I make them look and feel.
What human trait do you dislike the most?
Lateness is a trait that I find unforgivable and disrespectful.
Who is your idol?
I admire anyone who is hard working and always proud of who they are and what they do.
What film character would
you be?
Honestly I would say the funny loveable sidekick.
What’s your biggest fear?
Sharks and failure.
Describe yourself in three words…
Talented, punctual, honest.
What’s your biggest regret?
I have a tattoo on my arm that says “ Je Ne Regrette Rien”, which means I regret nothing!
What is your desert island song?

What animal would you be and why?
I would be something like a lion, appear a bit lazy but deadly.
What do you do if you can’t sleep?
I lay awake and think of my next big project and makeup schemes for photo shoots.
If you had a travel machine where would you go?
I would go to Guyana circa 1960 where my parents are from when it was peaceful and prosperous and beautiful.
What’s your most memorable dream?
Winning an Academy Award for best Make Up. I was so good with my acceptance speech!
What’s the most unpleasant exchange you have had with a person?
That never happens because I never let it come to that!
What’s the best advice you have ever taken?
Mom always said to be a good person and you can’t go wrong in life or karma will bite your ass!
If you weren’t a make-up artist, what would you be?
I would probably be in the arts somewhere still, maybe a stylist as I think with the right side of my brain which they say is the creative side.
Fortune or happiness, which would you choose?
Happiness all the way, with that you always have good fortune.
Which cartoon character is most like you?
Perhaps Goofy! But not when I am doing makeup that’s when I am serious.
What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you?
That I was their role model and that they look up to and admire me *tear*...
What is the closest you have come to death?
I say I am like a cat with nine lives but have only four left, so that would be six close calls with death... I was meant to stay here it seems!
What’s the best definition of love?
Giving yourself completely to someone, heart and soul....
What’s your most unappealing habit?
Impatience... I’m working on it though.
Tell us your most embarrassing memory?
When I was six years old I got a really bad haircut and glasses at the same time and when I went to school the next day I made my teacher put my desk in the hall because I was so embarrassed... I was very vain!
Tell us your best joke?
I can’t, they are all dirty, but ask me in person sometime after a few martinis!
What is your best physical attribute?
My smile as its very real and puts people at ease.
What is your earliest memory?
My mother singing me to sleep as a very young child and how comforting and safe it made me feel.
Least favourite thing about your appearance?
My stubby fingers but boy can they work some makeup magic!
What’s your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession is not materialistic, it’s my pride.
What is your dream location to settle down?
The South of France... its magical.
What would you most like to be remembered for?
My contribution to making women feel beautiful about themselves!
